Question 1

Can a magician really entertain a corporate audience?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A skilled magician can entertain, mystify, and genuinely engage a corporate crowd. Al Skinner never embarrasses volunteers, never works blue, and never does anything that makes anyone regret participating. He has performed for Adobe, Meta, Salesforce, Cisco, Kaiser Permanente, and over 100 other companies across Northern California.

Question 2

Who is the best corporate magician in the San Francisco Bay Area?

Accepted Answer

Al Skinner has been voted Best Magician and People's Choice entertainer in Northern California. With over 15 years performing for Fortune 500 companies across the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and Sacramento, his clients include Adobe, Meta, Salesforce, Intel, Cisco, Genentech, Stanford University, and Merrill Lynch.

Question 3

Is a comedy magician appropriate for a work event?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, when the performer works clean. Al Skinner performs with no cursing, no off-color remarks, no innuendo, and no political, ethnic, religious, or suggestive material of any kind. No one ever leaves an Al Skinner show upset, offended, or embarrassed.

Question 4

How far in advance should I book a corporate magician for a holiday party?

Accepted Answer

For holiday events in November and December, book 4 to 6 months in advance, meaning June through August. The performers with the strongest corporate track records fill their holiday calendars through returning client relationships by September. Waiting until October or November typically means your preferred options are already booked.

Question 5

How much does it cost to hire a corporate magician in San Francisco?

Accepted Answer

Fees depend on location, number of guests, show length, and level of customization. The best way to get an accurate quote is to share your event details and Al will put together a custom proposal within 24 hours. Call 916-225-5376 or fill out the contact form at alskinner.net.

Question 6

What types of corporate events work best with a magician or mentalist?

Accepted Answer

Holiday parties, sales conferences, product launches, client appreciation events, team building days, trade shows, and award dinners all work exceptionally well. Al Skinner specializes in events throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and Sacramento.

Question 7

Does Al Skinner perform for executive-level audiences?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Al specializes in creating sophisticated, engaging performances tailored specifically for executive audiences, ensuring a memorable and professional experience.

Question 8

Do you do mind reading, or just magic?

Accepted Answer

Both. Mentalism - real mind reading - is a core part of every corporate show I perform, not an add-on. It's one of the reasons corporate clients specifically request a mentalist rather than a straight magician.

Question 9

What's the difference between hiring a magician and hiring a corporate mentalist?

Accepted Answer

A magician's tricks are about objects - cards, coins, props. A mentalist's material is about people - reading thoughts, predicting choices, and pulling real information from the room. I do both in the same show, so you get the visual wow of magic and the personal, talked-about-for-weeks moment of mentalism.

Question 10

What kind of entertainment works best for a conference?

Accepted Answer

It depends entirely on the slot. An opening reception is best served by close-up magic that mingles through the room and gets strangers talking. An after-dinner slot wants a full interactive stage show. A mid-afternoon energy dip on day two wants something short and high-energy that resets the room before the next session. Tell me where it sits in your agenda and I'll tell you honestly what fits.

Question 11

Can you perform at a multi-day conference or company meeting?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it often works better than a single appearance. Strolling magic at the opening reception, a full show after the awards dinner, and a short reset before a tough afternoon session all do different jobs. I'll build a plan around your agenda rather than dropping the same 45 minutes into whatever slot is free.

Question 12

What's a good alternative to the usual corporate holiday party games?

Accepted Answer

A show does what a game is meant to do, without the drawbacks. A game only involves the people who choose to play, and someone on your staff has to run it instead of enjoying the evening. A 45-minute comedy magic and mind reading show pulls in the entire room at once — including the people who'd have sat a game out — and nobody on your team has to organize a thing.

Question 13

Do you charge travel for events in the Sacramento area?

Accepted Answer

No. Sacramento is home, so there is no travel charge anywhere in the region. That alone is often the difference between me and an equivalent act coming from the Bay Area.

Question 14

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

For November and December, four to six months, which means starting in the summer. Sacramento venues and entertainers both fill their holiday calendars early. For the rest of the year, six to eight weeks is usually comfortable.

Question 15

How many guests does this work for?

Accepted Answer

Anywhere from about 25 up to several hundred. I have performed for rooms of 250 seated guests and for small executive dinners. The format changes with the size, so tell me the guest count and I will tell you what fits.

Question 16

Is the material appropriate for a work event?

Accepted Answer

Completely. No off-color material, nothing political, and nobody is made the butt of the joke. Volunteers come back to their table looking good, which is exactly why the next person puts their hand up.

Question 17

Do you provide sound?

Accepted Answer

I bring a wireless microphone and my own mixer. For a larger room the first question is whether you are having a DJ, because if so I can run through their system. If not, I will tell you exactly what to rent so you do not over-buy.
